The First Omen proves to be a disappointing viewing experience. The film suffers from an excruciatingly slow pace, an excessively long runtime of two hours, lackluster death scenes that rely too heavily on unconvincing CGI (the fire effects during the burning nun scene were particularly dreadful), predictable jump scares, and a plot twist that suggests the devil's followers in the original The Omen were not Satanists, but rather deranged, power-hungry Catholics. This revision of the storyline is a disrespectful alteration to Richard Donner's brilliant original horror classic.
